Person hit and killed by Amtrak train in Milwaukee area on Wednesday

A pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak passenger train in Oak Creek on Wednesday, police said.

The Oak Creek Police Department was alerted to the incident at around 8:06 p.m. on the 800 block of W. Puetz Road and found a person struck by the train, the department said in a media release. The person was dead at the scene and their identity is under investigation.

No one was reported as injured on the train and Amtrak officials are cooperating with police in the investigation, the release said.

Police said they would not be releasing further identifying information about the person or of the collision at this time.

An Amtrak social media account seemed to reference the incident last night. The account, Amtrak Alerts, said that passengers were taken back to Milwaukee and boarded buses to finish their trip to Chicago.
