Earlier this year, PepsiCo voluntarily recalled Schweppes Zero Sugar Ginger Ale Caffeine Free because it was discovered they contained full sugar. Yesterday, the company announced another similar recall: A total of 2,801 cases of soda labeled Mug Root Beer—with full sugar—were labeled as Mug Zero Sugar Root Beer.

The recall was initiated after an internal investigation discovered the error and was filed with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA)—the investigation is ongoing.

The recalled products are 12-ounce aluminum cans sold in 12-pack cases. They are labeled as Mug Root Beer and are stamped with the code JUL2224XXXXAS02234 and a best-by date JUL 22 2024. The recalled products were shipped to retail locations in Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.

PepsiCo has confirmed with Simply Recipes that there is currently no impacted product on shelves for sale. If you have purchased or have the recalled product, discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
