The project adds to the nearly $1.5 billion worth of statewide capital investment from distribution and logistics companies between 2017 and 2021.

“Pepsi Bottling Ventures has been a staple of Horry County for more than 20 years. When we learned of their plans for growth, we accepted the challenge to assist in their expansion,” County Council chairman Johnny Gardner said in a statement. “Our council is committed to supporting our existing industry, retaining jobs and creating jobs. We look forward to them providing our area with more Pepsi products in their new state-of-the-art facility.”

Within a year and a half, the 69-acre Palmetto Coast Industrial Park along Water Tower Road is set to host 700,000 square feet of industrial and manufacturing space, with amenities suitable for warehouse assembly lines, adding to Horry County’s growing number of sites aimed at attracting large-scale business investment.

Planning documents approved by city leaders in August suggest the company has plans to grow beyond its initial size by adding a 52,000-square-foot expansion in the future with 23 tractor-trailer stalls.

The city will collect $115,000 as part of a deal with PepsiCo. for ongoing road maintenance and upkeep.

Distribution and logistics is a high-performing sector for the state, churning out nearly $38 billion in annual economic impact while employing nearly 140,000 people.

Moose Distribution & Logistics, which creates NCAA and NFL-branded socks, announced Dec. 13 plans to spend $2.6 million in Loris on a site that will bring 75 jobs over the next five years.
