Here are the Peoria-area basketball players named all-state by the Illinois Media in 2024

Illini Bluffs senior Hank Alvey and Manual junior Dietrich Richardson headlined the Class 1A and Class 2A Illinois Media all-state teams released Wednesday night.

The Class 3A and 4A teams are scheduled to be released later Thursday.

Alvey, a 6-foot-9 forward, was the leading voter getting in 1A, picking up honors as one of the five first-team members. The Lehigh recruit led the Tigers to the Elite Eight in back-to-back seasons, averaging 18.1 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.9 blocks, 2.7 assists and 1.8 steals for Illini Bluffs, which finished 33-4 overall.

In 2A, Richardson, a 6-foot-7 point guard, was a second-team pick following a Class 2A regional championship. The Division-I prospect averaged 18.5 points, six rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block before getting knocked off in the sectional semifinals.

Other Peoria area players named to the honorable mention include: Peoria Christian junior Malachi Persinger in 1A. The 2A honorable mention players were Jonah Funk (El Paso-Gridley, junior), Noah LaPorte (Princeton, junior), Brady Clark (Kewanee, senior), Tyler Heffren (Eureka, senior), Dion Doyle (Macomb, senior) and Brady Ruestman (Fieldcrest, senior).
