Penguin at Aquarium of the Pacific Says ‘Good Morning’ in the Cutest Way

If you're looking for something to bring a smile to your face, this is it! Some of us are morning people, and some of us aren't. Anderson is a penguin who lives at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California, and on Wednesday, April 10th, he delighted his caregivers by saying good morning!

To me it actually sounds more like hi...or maybe he sounds more like a donkey braying. Either way, the short clip is just the cutest! Make sure your sound is on so you can hear him and decide for yourself!

It actually sounded like he was saying "Hi!" I loved how he had to work up to it, but once he started going, he was on a roll! Aquarium of the Pacific got a kick out of it like I did. Almost 100 fans, including @MontereyBayAquarium said good morning back to Anderson, but two comments really stood out. I laughed when @Sylvia J. pointed out, "Oh my goodness it's a Penguin Donkey!!!" and at @Small Circle's comment, "Have you been letting the penguins watch Jurassic Park? Cuz that was a pretty good T-Rex impression."

Cool Facts About Penguins

I think penguins are absolutely adorable and fun to watch - they're very entertaining! Since I started writing about animals, I've learned a thing or two about penguins that I didn't know. National Geographic wildlife photographer Bertie Gregory taught me that penguin colonies smell absolutely terrible. I was surprised by that news until we visited the Georgia Aquarium recently, and I could smell the penguins before I could see them!

I mentioned that penguins are entertaining, but they are also very curious. Check out these two that found a hidden camera while on an afternoon stroll - then ended up pulling off the ultimate photobomb!

When I learned this fact, I thought it was mind blowing and so cool to see how nature makes things work perfectly. Penguins love to eat, and they eat about 2 pounds of food each day, and almost twice that during the winter. The tuxedos that penguins look like they are wearing aren't just a fashion statement; the black and white colors not only help camouflage them from predators, but they also help them hunt for fish. When they are in the water, if you looked at them from above, their black backs blend into the dark ocean water. If you look at them from below, their white bellies match the bright surface. They literally blend right in!

Adorably, penguins love to give each other rocks - it's like giving a special gift. It's also the way that male penguins woo the ladies...the perfect rock is the best gift around!

Penguins always make me smile, and listening to Anderson say hello totally brightened up my day.
