Pedro Pascal's new short Western confirms UK release with first-look images
Strange Way of Life, the new Western short film starring Pedro Pascal, has confirmed a UK release along with the first images.
The new short, which also stars Ethan Hawke, follows Silva (Pascal) on his journey to meet old friend Sheriff Jake (Hawke), who haven’t seen each other in 25 years.
The short film is the second English-language project from acclaimed Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar following 2020’s The Human Voice, and is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next month before being released in the UK later this year.

The synopsis for Strange Way of Life reads: “A man rides a horse across the desert that separates him from Bitter Creek. He comes to visit Sheriff Jake. Twenty-five years earlier, both the sheriff and Silva, the rancher who rides out to meet him, worked together as hired gunmen.
“Silva visits him with the excuse of reuniting with his friend from his youth, and they do indeed celebrate their meeting, but the next morning Sheriff Jake tells him that the reason for his trip is not to go down the memory lane of their old friendship…”.
Pascal is currently dominating television screens with his leading roles in both The Last of Us and The Mandalorian, and recently revealed there were some downsides to playing the bounty hunter in the Star Wars universe.

“It’s like putting on a head-to-toe glove with weights on it,” he said of donning the costume. “It’s ironic that you can’t see any facial expression because it puts you in the world so completely, and instantly makes the character feel real — but you can’t see shit.
“They’ve continued to finesse and make it more comfortable, but it’s like going blind. Your breath completely fogs up the narrow slit that you can see through. There’s no peripheral vision. If there’s a hole, I’m going to fall into it.”
Strange Way of Life will be released later this year. The Mandalorian season 3 is streaming on Disney+, with new episodes on Wednesdays. The Last of Us airs on HBO in the US, and on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW in the UK.
