Pedro Pascal Asks Kieran Culkin to Smell His Armpits in Hilarious Backstage SAG Awards Moment

Kieran Culkin and Pedro Pascal

Thanks to their wildly popular shows, The Last of Us and Succession and, Pedro Pascal and Kieran Culkin have been regulars at awards shows this season. Viewers have come to anticipate their entertaining frenemies dynamic during acceptance speeches. However, a hilarious backstage moment at the 2024 SAG Awards just might take the cake.

On Saturday, Feb. 24, Pascal and Culkin ran into each other during a backstage interview after going head-to-head in the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series category. Pascal ultimately won the trophy. Meanwhile, Culkin snagged one of his own for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

The duo chatted with Entertainment Tonight's Nischelle Turner, where they briefly joked about Pascal telling tell Queer Eye's Tan France, "I'm going to make out with Kieran. That'll be my revenge."

Culkin greeted Pascal with a hug while asking, "You said we would make out? False."

That's when things somehow got weirder.

"He also did ask if I wanted to smell his pits. That was weird," Culkin said.

When Pascal explained he did that out of "nerves," The Last of Us actor repeated his question: "Kieran, would you like to smell my armpits?"

"No, of course not," Culkin replied. "I don't think I want to smell anyone's armpits."

Pascal replied, "You're so difficult," to which Culkin said, "Am I? Because I don't want to smell your pits? Who are you? You wanna smell mine?"

"Yeah," Pascal said while laughing, to which Culkin concluded, "You don't have to answer that. All right. Well here we are."

Later in the interview, when Turner pointed out the actors both won SAG Award, Culkin joked, "I got one of these and he's got mine so."

Pascal proceeded to thank the male leads of Succession—Culkin, Matthew Macfadyen and Brian Cox—for his trophy," to which Culkin replied, "You're welcome, you deserve it or whatever."

Before Culkin continued along the interview line, he and Pascal hugged once more as he said, "Don't smell me."

Pascal and Culkin have experienced a number of frenemy moments at awards shows this season. On Jan. 7, at the Golden Globes, Culkin declared, "Suck it, Pedro. Sorry. Mine," upon winning in the Actor in a Drama or TV Series category.
