Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run in Fresno, CHP says. Driver left some evidence behind

UPDATE: Coroner identifies pedestrian killed by hit-run driver

Detectives are looking for a hit-and-run driver they say fled after fatally striking a pedestrian in Fresno, the California Highway Patrol said Monday.

A 29-year-old man, who has not been named publicly, was walking west on Dudley Avenue east of Valentine Avenue about 10:30 p.m. Friday before the collision, CHP said.

For reasons yet to be determined, an unknown vehicle hit the man, who was thrown to the north shoulder of Dudley Avenue, CHP said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver fled the scene. CHP officers said it was unclear if alcohol or drugs were a factor.

Evidence at the scene seems to point to the car involved being a 2017-2019 Chevrolet Trax, CHP said.

Anyone with information was asked by CHP to call Fresno-area call center at 559-262-0400. Valley Crime Stoppers also takes tips anonymously at 559-498-7867.
