Pedestrian critically hurt crossing street on southern edge of Waldo neighborhood in KC

A pedestrian suffered critical injuries after being struck by a car while crossing a street on the southern side of Waldo neighborhood in Kansas City, a police spokesman said.

The crash occurred about 8:45 p.m. Thursday as the pedestrian was crossing 85th Street at Oak Street, said Capt.Corey Carlisle, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department.

A black Ford Fusion headed east on 85th Street struck the pedestrian, who was crossing from north to south, Carlisle said. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital for treatment of critical injuries.

The driver stopped and remained at the scene. The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
