Pedestrian appeared to be on drugs when he ran onto I-182 in Richland and was hit

A 28-year-old Moses Lake man appeared to be high on drugs when he tried crossing Interstate 182 and was hit by a car.

Guillermo Neponuceno Sanchez darted into the eastbound lanes of the highway in the Richland city limits just before midnight last Saturday, the Washington State Patrol said.

He was part of the way across the highway when he was hit by a Honda Civic driven by a Esthefania Zuno Cruz, 20, of Pasco.

Investigators are not sure why the Moses Lake man was trying to cross the divided highway, but they said he was highly impaired.

Neponuceno Sanchez remains in critical condition at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland.

Cruz is not facing facing any charges in connection with the crash, said the WSP.

Highway 395 crash

Two women were hurt earlier this week when their truck flipped on Highway 395.

Tina M. Ohagan, 54, of Hayden Idaho, was driving north when she lost control about 8 miles north of Pasco at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, the Washington State Patrol said in a release. The truck went off the road, and Ohagan overcorrected.

The truck flipped and she and her passenger, Tammy L. Byers, 49, of Spokane, were hurt.

Neither woman was wearing her seat belt, according to WSP.

They were both treated at Kadlec hospital, and Ohagan was cited for improper lane travel, according to the state patrol.
