Peaky Blinders' Sam Claflin finds next leading movie role
Peaky Blinders actor Sam Claflin has landed his next movie role.
Claflin, who has also appeared in The Hunger Games and Daisy Jones & The Six, will star in World War II action-thriller Perdition. He'll be playing an American soldier who is the sole survivor of a prisoner of war camp execution in 1944 in Belgium.
Deadline reports that Obi-Wan Kenobi and Asteroid City's Rupert Friend will also star in the film. He will play a ruthless Nazi hunter who is tasked with hunting Claflin down, and becomes obsessed with finishing the job.

Writer-director Henry Dunham called the movie a "highly dramatic classical, visual action thriller about timeless aspects of the human experience.
"Perdition is a story about a chance survival, the responsibility it imbues, and the need to make it count for something, even while being chased by a seemingly omnipotent force."
Basil Iwanyk from production company Thunder Road called Dunham "one of the most exciting young filmmakers we have ever worked with" and stated that: "His vision for Perdition blew us away. It's singular, intense, emotional, and visually stunning. We are so thankful to our friends at Mister Smith for going on this journey with us."

David Garrett from Mister Smith Entertainment, the company handling the film's sale at Cannes, added: "We are proud and excited to be working with Thunder Road on this incredibly surprising, intelligent and intense thriller, from one of the most gifted new writers and filmmakers in the shape of Henry Dunham.
"Shooting on 35mm, it will be a theatrical experience not to be missed."
Production on the film is expected to take place later this year.
