Need a pay boost for the holidays? These Kansas state jobs offer a salary of at least $73K

As of September, the unemployment rate in Kansas currently sits at 2.8%, up just slightly from the month prior.

Across Kansas, the state government has 749 jobs open as of Wednesday. Of all Kansas counties, Shawnee has the most openings with 252. Pawnee County has the second most, with 44 jobs posted, while Miami County has 40.

Sedgwick County currently has 25 state jobs listed on the portal.

Land Surveyor II

Location: Finney County

Agency: Kansas Department of Transportation

Pay: $79,029 to $84,926.40

Description: This person will be based at the District Six headquarters office in Garden City and will locate, establish and/or relocate section corners, property corners and KDOT right-of-way.

They will also review deeds and plans relating to projects sites and more.

Information Security Officer

Location: Shawnee County

Agency: Kansas Public Employees Retirement System

Pay: $94,600 to $142,000

Description: This person will work with information technology and business leadership in their role monitoring and maintaining information security as needed. Responsibilities include risk assessment and management, policy enforcement and development, security incident reporting and more.

Aging Commissioner

Location: Shawnee County

Agency: Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services

Pay: Up to $90,000

Description: This position will administer several programs dedicated to supporting the aging population via grants and contracts of state funds. The programs include the Older Americans Act and the Senior Care Act.

This person will have several other responsibilities, including monitoring the commission’s budget, promoting programs, monitoring regulations of senior programs and more.

Area Engineer

Location: Cloud County

Agency: Kansas Department of Transportation

Pay: $93,642.40 to $97,230

Description: Representing KDOT, this person will be in charge of managing steps of maintenance and construction, as well as personnel matters in their assigned area.

Construction Engineer Associate

Location: Marion County

Agency: Kansas Department of Transportation

Pay: $73,320

Description: Located in KDOT’s Second District, this person would provide guidance regarding highway construction and other related projects, including supervising other workers and engineers.

The individual would have to be available to work nights and weekends.
