(Paws & Reflect) Dogs welcome at weekend Canine Expo

Apr. 24—This Saturday, April 27, plan on coming to the North Alabama Canine Expo being held at the Sheriff's Rodeo from 11 to 4. Admission is free. This event is being hosted by DAK's Dog Ranch, with proceeds going to benefit the North Alabama Animal Warriors.

Dak's Dog Ranch is a Dog Boarding and Daycare center that also offers Dock Diving and water rehabilitation for dogs. The owner, Sabrina Trussell is also a breeder of German Shepherds at her East German Shepherd Kennel Vom Laudenbach, located on the Elk River in Athens.

The expo is designed to bring the canine community and their owners together for a fun day of meet and greets, learning, sharing and exploring different dog breeds, training methods, and all things dog, including feed, treats, toys, bedding and more. The expo will be holding demonstrations all day and are sure to have a at least one exhibition that will interest everyone. The schedule for the demonstrations is as follows: — 11:30-12 Meet the Breed. — 12:15-12:45 Rally and Disc. — 1-1:30 Different Trainers, Different Things. — 1:45-2:15 Agility. — 2:30-3 Search and Rescue. — 3:15-4 IPO Obedience and Protection.

Along with demonstrations, the expo will have more than 80 vendors. You will find everything you ever wanted for your dog & things you'd never thought of, plus crafts, beauty, home goods, adoption events and a full line of food and beverages for the two leggers. You will have an opportunity to meet Athens Finest K9 Unit and several animal rescues from Limestone County.

All dogs are welcome as long as they are well-behaved and kept on a non-retractable leash.

Proceeds from the event will go to the North Alabama Animal Warriors to continue their incredible work in Limestone County. Dak's has been able to gain sponsorships and attract many vendors to their 2nd annual event, and are always open to including more. Their main goal is to create opportunities for our dog loving community to come together, work together, and learn about responsible pet ownership.
