Paw Paw softball takes two from Sturgis

STURGIS - It was a tough night on the softball diamond for Sturgis on Tuesday.

The Lady Trojans hosted Paw Paw and dropped a double header, falling 10-0 and 21-4.

Haylee Pappas, Riley Northrop, Maddy Webb and Hannah Stielau each had a hit for the Trojans in the opener.

The second game saw Northrop blast a home run. She drove in three collectively while Nataliegh Jarratt also had an RBI hit. Pappas and Mia Martinez both added a base hit in the game as well.

Sturgis is now 0-4 on the season.

Bronson sweeps Reading

The Bronson softball team took care of Reading in a double header sweep on Tuesday. The Lady Vikings won 11-1 and 10-0.

Ashlyn Harris pitched Bronson to the win in the first game, striking out 13 in six innings. At the plate, she collected three hits as well.

"Our bats started a little slow today but we were able to pick it up. I was happy with the pitcher’s performance and the way the defense played behind them," Bronson coach Becky Gray said. "Thursday will be a tough test for us. We will continue to work and improve each day."

Roni Bir belted out three hits with three RBIs, both Ciara Blankenship and Brealyn Lasky collected a pair of hits and drove in three total runs. Delanee Carpenter added two singles and drove in two.

Mya Webb also recorded two runs driven in while Braelynn Gimenez and Ryleigh Fee each collected a hit.

Webb struck out six in the second game in five innings.

Lydia Wells connected on four hits in the game, she drove in one. Harris and Kailynne Scare each had two hits. Blankenship, Bir, Lasky and Gimenez all recorded a hit as well.

Bronson travels to Grass Lake on Thursday.

Three Rivers splits with Niles

Three Rivers and Niles played to a softball split on Tuesday.

The Cats, now 7-2 on the season, won the opener 3-0. Jennaya Decker struck out seven over seven innings of work, scattering just three hits to pitch Three Rivers to the win.

At the plate, both Dani Glass and London Hoffmaster had run-scoring hits. Ava Forman, Decker, Kendall Penny and Allie McGlothlen each registered a hit.

In the second game, Niles scored four times in the first inning and it held up for a 4-3 win. Forman pitched all six innings for the Cats, scattering four hits. At the plate, Hoffmaster had three hits and drove in all three runs.

Root leads Burr Oak to win

Brooklynn Root struck out 13 batters and hit a home run as Burr Oak beat Colon 11-3 on Tuesday.

The Bobcats collected 10 hits in the game, including getting three from Inez Ultz and two from both Elaine Holtom and Saryia Cornejo. That trio drove in seven. Braylynn Hernandez had a run-scoring double as well.

Root pitched all seven innings.

Colon got two hits from Kelsey Burgess and a two-run triple from Reese Williams.

Mendon improves to 8-0

The Mendon softball team won a single game matchup with visiting Bellevue on Tuesday, 19-0.

Abby Butler drove in four runs as the Lady Hornets went to bat just twice in the game, scoring three times in the first and 16 times in the second. Jadyn Samson, Kaidee Gonder and Cienna Nightingale each drove in two runs as well for the Hornets. Rowan Allen, Taya Bingaman and Brielle Bailey each had run-scoring hits while Brooke Gerth hit a single in the game as well.

Samson tossed three innings, striking out four.

Constantine splits with Schoolcraft

The Constantine softball team split a pair of games with Schoolcraft on Tuesday.

Schoolcraft won the opener, 7-2. Constantine got two doubles from Jozee Buglione, she added a single as well. Olivia Ransbottom drove in a run while Olivia Herlein and Taryn Wolfinger each had a hit.

Constantine won 11-5 in the second.

Buglione, Ransbottom and Kaitlyn Ross each had two hits. Buglione drove in three runs while Raeann Michalek had a hit as well.

Wolfinger pitched the Falcons to the win.
