Alabama has been the top program in college football for a while now, but ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum believes there’s a new king.

Georgia, the reigning national champions, is coming off an incredible performance at the 2022 NFL Draft, as well.

Finebaum believes you have to consider Georgia the country’s top program right now.

“What Thursday really was, ended up being the final cherry on top of the cake for Kirby Smart and Georgia,” Finebaum said Monday on McElroy and Cubelic In The Morning, per 247Sports. “I mean, it was a defining moment for Georgia’s program — as the national championship was — but this confirmed it. And you can start throwing other players in, whether it’s (Jermaine) Johnson or Cade May or Justin Fields and think about the amount of talent and what’s ahead, what has gone through the turnstiles in Athens. It’s remarkable and I think, now, hopefully, people will give Kirby Smart the credit that he deserves as a builder and as a developer — and, obviously, as a head coach — because, I mean, you can debate whatever you want.

“But it’s hard to argue, after this past weekend, that Georgia doesn’t have the best overall program in the country — and I’m not talking about a moment in time, the winner of the championship. Too often, we do that. I’m talking about — look at who has the best program in college football right now. You can make an argument it’s the University of Georgia. And only Alabama, Greg, can have a ‘down’ draft when they only have two in the first in an X number of years and still have more than half the conferences in college football.”

Not everyone agrees, though.

Alabama is probably still the pick in the minds of most.

Georgia won a National Championship, first one since 1980. Now, everyone, including Finebaum thinks they will be the new king of college football! Not so fast, Saban hasn’t gone anywhere yet! Metchie and Williamson play the full game, Bama would’ve won! Prove me wrong!” one fan tweeted.

Georgia was somewhat fortunate that Williamson got injured. The question I have is where was Alabama’s depth at WR? Georgia had three freshmen make plays in the 4th quarter to win the game. That’s coaching and preparation. Bama’s backups looked unprepared. The better team won,” another fan added.

Georgia had the best team in the nation and the draft shows that they had the players,” one fan added.

Who would you pick as the country’s top program?
