With Oklahoma and Texas reportedly set to leave the Big 12 for the SEC at some point in the coming years, other conferences are likely to do some expansion, too.

However, with the Sooners and the Longhorns now off the market, which schools are likely to command the most interest?

Paul Finebaum has two schools in mind.

The ESPN college football analyst believes that Notre Dame is the clear No. 1. The Fighting Irish are desperately wanted by the ACC and the Big Ten (and the Big 12 and the Pac 12, though it’s unclear the interest is reciprocated for those conferences).

Who’s after Notre Dame, though?

According to Finebaum, it’s BYU.

“There’s one other school out there who I think is very valuable that could help either the Big 12 or the Pac-12, and that is BYU,” Finebaum added. “I said Notre Dame is the biggest name out there; BYU is pretty close to being the second biggest.”

BYU would make a lot of sense for the Big 12 or the Pac-12. It’s a historic school with a passionate fan base and respectable athletic programs.

Notre Dame remains the major prize for other conferences moving forward, of course.
