Earlier this week, Oklahoma and Texas dominated headlines when it was reported that both programs planned to leave the Big 12.

According to Chip Brown of 247Sports, the founding members of the Big 12 made the decision to leave the conference for the SEC. Of course, the news shocked sports fans across the country.

The news reportedly came as a surprise to Texas A&M as well. The news reportedly “blindsided” the Aggies and they made that known with a stern message.

Well, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum isn’t buying it.

Here’s what he said, via Saturday Down South:

“I will take exception to one thing that he alluded to there,” Finebaum said. “It is my opinion, it’s more than an opinion, it’s based on talking to various people close to the situation, that the commissioner of the Southeastern Conference did not blindside Texas A&M.”

He think SEC commissioner Greg Sankey would allow the Aggies to be shocked by the news.

“I want to make that very clear,” he said. “I know how Greg Sankey operates, I’ve watched him very closely as all of us have, and I find it to be virtually impossible to believe that the president of Texas A&M, the chancellor, was not in the loop.”

Whether Texas A&M likes it or not, the move is happening.

We’ll have to wait and see how this impacts the Big 12.
