NFL Career

Mahomes, now 27, was a first-round selection by the Chiefs in the 2017 NFL Draft. Seeing something special in the Texas Tech product, Kansas City traded three draft picks to move from No. 27 to No. 10 just so they could select Mahomes. The move has paid off for both as Mahomes led the Chiefs to a seventh consecutive AFC West championship in 2022, and Celebrity Net Worth estimates Mahomes’ net worth at $40 million.

Endorsements and Investments

Mahomes landed at No. 24 on Forbes’ 2022 list of richest athletes, calculating his earnings at $49.1 million. Of that, $29.1 million came from football, the rest from endorsements. He has sponsorship deals with a variety of companies, listed by Forbes as Adidas, Airshare, BioSteel, Bose, CommunityAmerica Credit Union, DIRECTV, Electronic Arts, GEHA, Hy-Vee, Molson Coors Brewing, Nestlé, Oakley, Panini, Procter & Gamble, State Farm and Whoop.

Among his investments, Mahomes has bought into Kansas City’s other pro sports franchise: the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball, Sporting KC of Major League Soccer and KC Current of the National Women’s Soccer League. His stake in the Royals made him the youngest team owner in the history of the sport.

Splurging on Vehicles

Shortly after signing the half-billion-dollar contract, Mahomes told CBS Sports, “I haven’t bought anything… I feel exactly the same… I’m going to be the same person I was before I got the contract and before I got to the NFL.”

Well, he did buy at least a couple of things. A few days after the CBS Sports interview, USA Today reported that he splurged on a Ferrari 812 Superfast — a $338,000-plus ride. Later, he purchased an SUV – speculated by TMZ to be a $200,000-plus Lamborghini — for his fiancée, Brittany Matthews. Now married, the Mahomes have one daughter and are expecting a son in early 2023.
