Patrick Mahomes Further Details Role in Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift Romance

While speaking with Pat McAfee on Thursday, May 23, Patrick Mahomes explains why he wants to ‘take some of the credit’ for bringing Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift together.

Patrick Mahomes has shared some new information about how Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift wound up dating.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was asked about the power couple when he appeared on The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday, May 23. After his team’s second consecutive Super Bowl victory in February and the following three months of the NFL’s offseason, Mahomes and his teammates began to gear up for the 2024 season this week with some OTAs or organized team practice activities.

Mahomes, 28, spoke a bit about preparing for the season ahead with host Pat McAfee before the sports analyst asked him about Kelce and Swift, both 34. McAfee, who has in recent months commented occasionally about the Chiefs tight end’s romance with the pop star, said his work keeps him in the know about Kelce’s day-to-day activities while his wife keeps him updated on the “Cruel Summer” singer.

“I feel like I’m a part of their relationship,” McAfee joked.

Mahomes said he and his fellow players “enjoy” the elevated interest that Swift’s attendance at Chiefs games has brought their team before he revealed the role he played in bringing Kelce and Swift together.

“I like to take some of the credit. I was the one who invited Travis to the first Taylor concert,” the star quarterback said, referring to a concert Kelce attended last summer. Kelce later bemoaned his inability to connect with Swift before or after her show. At the time, he explained to his brother, Jason Kelce, on their New Heights podcast that he had brought a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it in the hopes of gifting it to the “Anti-Hero” songstress.

"He was sitting in my suite, so I feel like I was the matchmaker,” Mahomes told McAfee. “I had some input in there as well. I was like, ‘Dude, you should go for it. Just go for it.’”

Mahomes went on to describe his teammate as “a great dude.”

“I’m glad that it’s all worked out for the best,” he added.

A few months after that concert, Swift was spotted cheering on the Chiefs at an NFL game in September, publicly confirming that she and Kelce were dating. The 14-time Grammy Award winner went on to attend several more Chiefs games in support of Kelce, and he has in turn traveled to support her as she brought her hit Eras Tour overseas.
