Parrot Makes up Her Own Song After Google Won’t Play Beastie Boys Hit

We all have favorite songs, and sometimes you want to hear it and ask Google or Alexa to play it for you to enjoy. Cosmo the Funny Parrot is the same way, and she recently asked Google to play 'So What'cha Want' by The Beastie Boys, but Google wouldn't do it so she decided to take matters into her own hands, er I mean, feet.

Cosmo's mom posted the video to Instagram on Tuesday, March 12th. Cosmo first asks Google to play the song, and when Google doesn't respond to her, she starts whistling to get its attention. After it became clear Google wasn't going to play it, Cosmo decided to just sing it herself. Make sure your sound is on so you can hear her talk...it's very entertaining!

Cosmo was done waiting and she wanted to hear her song! She even started to beat box and throw in her own remake of the song...and we all loved it! She's received well over 300 thousand likes and thousands of comments about her post. Many commenters said the same thing that @knimil2007 did, "I don’t know what’s wrong with your Google, mine just asked “How can I help?" LOL!" and others had the same thought that @lisaaugestinemtv did, "So no one ever played Beastie Boys, So watcha watcha want for this bird??? Need a Part 2!"

Do Parrots Make Good Pets?

My parents brought home a Yellow Naped Amazon parrot when I was a kid, and he is now almost 50 years old. He sings, talks, mimics people's voices and animal noises as well as things that he heard a lot (the phone ringing, baby crying), and when he gets worked up, he is noisy! His favorite song to sing was 'Old MacDonald Had a Farm'. He can sing it and whistle it, though he always mixes up words and whistles the tune out of order.

While it might sound like fun to have a talking parrot in the house, they can be noisy...especially if they become agitated or want something (like attention!). But overall, I think talking birds are awesome pets. Most parrot species are highly intelligent, are affectionate and form strong bonds with their humans, and they can live to be 50 years old (the big ones like Cosmo who is an African Grey can live that long... smaller ones can live to be 20 or so). This could also be a con for some people.

There are always negatives that come with any pet. I've already mentioned that they are noisy and need a lot of attention, but if you're considering a parrot know that they are also messy! They like throwing food and seeds out of their cage for fun. While it's annoying, it's nothing that the vacuum or a quick sweep with a broom can't fix.

Make sure to do your research if you're considering bringing home a parrot as a pet. You may even want to talk to someone who has one or had one in the past. They're a cool pet to have, but they're also a lot of work.
