Parents, a Miami company recalled children’s drugs for a possibly ‘serious’ problem
A potentially fatal packaging error caused a recall of children’s tablets by Miami’s Rico Perez Products.
Three lots of 60-count bottles of Dr. Rico Perez Super Kids’ Colostrum got yanked in a food allergy recall because the tablets have milk and the packaging doesn’t tell consumers about the milk. Milk as an undeclared allergen isn’t a problem for most people, but for those with a milk allergy, this is definitely a problem.
“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product,” the company-written, FDA-posted recall notice says.
The lots involved are Nos. 1117002, expiration date 4/30/2023; 0122003, expiration date 7/31/2024; and 0223539, expiration date 11/30/2025. They were sold at Dr. Rico Perez Vitamin & Supplement stores in Florida, New York, New Jersey and California and online at the company website.
If you have these tablets and they might be given to a child with a milk allergy, return them wherever you bought them for a full refund.
