This Is What a Parade of Ferrari F40s Looks Like
The Ferrari F40 is one of the greatest supercars ever produced. This year, Ferrari decided to celebrate it with its inaugural Ferrari Legacy Tour. Approximately 30 F40s snaked their way along some of the finest roads in Italy creating a once-in-a-lifetime scene.
A video recently posted on the Varryx YouTube channel captured the tour in Maranello as the F40 parade took over the town. Even in the hometown of Ferrari, the sight of all these F40s had the locals waving their hands and grabbing their phones as if they had never seen a car from the supercar maker before. It's quite a sight. The F40s grouped at the Piazza Libertà and then made their way to the nearby factory where they were greeted by Ferrari vice-chairman Piero Ferrari.
The F40 was built to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Ferrari. The car was produced from 1987 to 1992. Only 400 F40s were to be made. However, the demand was so great that Ferrari ended up building about 1,315 F40s with a little over 200 of them destined for the United States. The car stickered for about $400,000 when it was released but today, they can trade hands for nearly ten times that original cost. The twin-turbo V-8 produces 478 horsepower. That power going to the rear wheels, combined with the lack of electronic aids, and a minimalist interior make the F40 one of the last true analog supercars. It was also the last road car that Enzo Ferrari signed off on.
The Ferrari Legacy Tour began on September 27 in the town of Forte dei Marmi. The next day, the F40 owners drove 116 miles around Tuscany. On the second day of the tour, the cars headed northeast for another 100 miles toward Maranello. Part of the route took place over the same roads where the famed Mille Miglia was once held. Some of these same roads are still used today by Ferrari test drivers. The last day of the tour covered 130 miles as the convoy closed in on Maranello.
From the looks of this footage, the Ferrari Legacy Tour was a fitting tribute to one of the most iconic Ferrari models ever made. We'd love to experience a scene like it one day for ourselves.
