The Panthers’ full 2022-23 schedule is out. Here are the key dates, stretches to know
After a second straight consecutive -setting regular season and frustrating early exit, the Florida Panthers will officially begin another quest for the Stanley Cup in October when they kick off the 2022-23 NHL season with a road game against the New York Islanders on Oct. 13.
The Panthers will begin the regular season with three games in a row on the road before their home opener against the Philadelphia Flyers on Oct. 19. They’ll host the rival Tampa Bay Lightning two days later for their second home game of the season.
Florida will finish the regular season April 13 at FLA Live Arena against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Panthers’ All-Star break will take place from Jan. 29-Feb. 5 with the 2022 NHL All-Star Game being held in Sunrise in the middle of it.
Florida previously announced its six-game preseason schedule last Thursday. The Panthers will play two games each against the Carolina Hurricanes, Nashville Predators and Lightning, starting in the final days of September. It could potentially kick off more than nine straight months of hockey in South Florida — if the Panthers go all the way to the 2023 Stanley Cup Finals, as they believe they can — because Broward County is also hosting to the NHL All-Star Game in February.
Florida’s longest homestand of the season is in March when it hosts seven straight games against the Predators, Pittsburgh Penguins, Vegas Golden Knights, Chicago Blackhawks, Winnipeg Jets, Montreal Canadiens and New Jersey Devils. Its longest road trip stretches from the end of November through the beginning of October, when they head out west for five games against the Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks, Seattle Kraken and Winnipeg Jets in new coach Paul Maurice’s first meeting with his former team.
