Pam's Popcorn to close in June, but owner says she'll reopen 'when the time is right'

Pam Tylka said she promises she'll pop again. But for now, she has announced via social media that she plans to close Pam's Popcorn and Windy City Eats on June 22.

She's doing so "with a heart full of mixed emotions," Tylka said. She said she has been battling cancer and recently has new concerns that require additional tests. "I'm staying optimistic, hoping for the best," she told followers.

Tylka said she hopes to reopen in Gahanna or New Albany "when the time is right."

Tylka opened Pam's Market Popcorn in the North Market in October 2005. With flavors from cheddar and caramel to buckeye blitz and painful pepper purgatory, she built a big fan base before moving in 2017 to 955 E. Johnstown Road in Gahanna.

The Windy City Eats part of her business there also sells hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches and other lunch items.
