The designer Pamela Shamshiri, who runs her namesake ELLE DECOR A-List studio alongside her brother, Ramin, from Los Angeles, imbues each project with a casual elegance that’s easy to love and hard to imitate. You’ve probably pinned one of her many eye-catching residential projects—or maybe even stayed at the firm’s buzzy hotel, Maison de la Luz, in New Orleans—but you’ve definitely been entranced by her way with color and her eye for exceptional furniture. With the studio’s first monograph due out soon from Rizzoli, we asked Shamshiri to share the things that keep her grounded, inspired, and excited about design.
“Shamshiri: Interiors”
Our first book, out in September 2023, is as much a story about family as it is about design and architecture.
Hiba Atmosphere Spray
This is my favorite scent for the home and office. It’s like being in a forest full of hinoki trees.
Santa Maria Novella Potpourri
I keep this in my car. It transports me back to the beautiful old pharmacy in Florence.
Edible Gardens Farm Box
My friend Lauri Kranz and her husband run this farm here in L.A., where they grow everything themselves.
Sonia Boyajian Ring
Sonia made this owl-eye ring for me from two gorgeous amethysts.
Utrecht Chair
We’ve used this Gerrit Rietveld piece in so many projects. It’s still so relevant.
Hotel Locarno
This hotel in Rome has a mix of historic and modern rooms, each as good as the other.
Beatrice Laval Velvet Quilt
I love how soft and cozy this is. It really makes the bed look dressed.
