On Wednesday afternoon, Tiger Woods took to social media to announce that he’ll be back on the course in a somewhat competitive nature for the first time since his devastating car accident.

“Although it’s been a long and challenging year, I am very excited to close it out by competing in the @PNCchampionship with my son Charlie,” Woods said today. “I’m playing as a Dad and couldn’t be more excited and proud.”

Of course, the golfing world loved hearing the news that Woods will finally step back on the course. That includes golf analyst Paige Spiranac, who summed up how golf fans are feeling right now.

“I can’t believe we get to see Tiger play again and with his son. It’s going to be really special. I’m excited,” Spiranac said.

Last week, Woods made it clear he will likely never play full time on the PGA Tour again.

“I think something that is realistic is playing the Tour one day—never full time, ever again—but pick and choose, just like Mr. (Ben) Hogan did. Pick and choose a few events a year and you play around that,” Woods said during a Zoom interview with Koyack, via Golf Digest. “You practice around that, and you gear yourself up for that. I think that’s how I’m going to have to play it from now on. It’s an unfortunate reality, but it’s my reality. And I understand it, and I accept it.”

Fans might not see him on the course every weekend during the season, but they’ll take what they can get at this point.
