Pahokee native Joe Milton selected on third day of 2024 NFL Draft

Pahokee native Joe Milton is headed to New England to start his professional football career.

Milton was drafted by the New England Patriots in the sixth round (No. 193 overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft on Saturday with ceremonies held in Detroit. He was the ninth quarterback selected in the draft.

A collegiate starter at Tennessee and Michigan, Milton was born and raised in Pahokee but played varsity high school football at Olympia High School in Orlando. He has a tattoo of a rabbit to honor his roots in the Muck.

After leading the Vols to victory in the 2022 Orange Bowl in Miami Gardens, Milton threw for 2,769 yards, 20 touchdowns and five interceptions as Tennessee's full-time starter in 2023.

Joe Milton joins Drake Maye on New England Patriots

New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo has invested in the quarterback position after trading away Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason.

Milton will join former Dwyer star Jacoby Brissett and 2024 first round pick Drake Maye in the Patriots' revamped quarterback room.

The former Tennessee quarterback is noted for his immense arm strength, which is widely considered to be the best in this year's NFL Draft.

At 6-foot-5, 235 pounds, Milton has been a tantalizing quarterback talent for many years, though he'll enter the NFL with questions surrounding his accuracy and consistency. Milton completed just 60 percent of passes in 17 career starts over four seasons.
