The Green Bay Packers added a former Netflix star to their roster on Thursday.

The Packers claimed former ‘Last Chance U’ star Chauncey Rivers after he was cut by the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.

“The Packers have claimed OLB Chauncey Rivers off waivers from the Ravens, per a source,” Demovsky said on Twitter. “You might remember him from the Last Chance U documentary. He’s on his way to Green Bay and will be in the building tomorrow. Could practice as soon as Family Night on Saturday.”

Rivers starred in Netflix’s ‘Last Chance U’ when he played for East Mississippi Community College and head coach Buddy Stephens. He totaled 45 total tackles and eight sacks in 12 games with EMCC. He wound up transferring to Mississippi State where he totaled 67 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks in two years. Rivers signed with the Baltimore Ravens after going undrafted in 2020.

Chauncey Rivers spent the 2020 season on the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad before he was waived. The Packers swooped in and claimed the former EMCC star on Thursday.

Green Bay, meanwhile, is entering a pivotal year. Aaron Rodgers is back, but is he truly committed to the Packers for the 2021 season? If he is, Green Bay is more than capable of winning the NFC North and making a run in the playoffs.

The Packers begin their preseason schedule on Aug. 14 when they take on the Houston Texans.
