Packers pick Georgia safety Javon Bullard and Twitter loves the job of general manager Brian Gutekunst during second round

Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst loves his Georgia Bulldogs. Maybe it's the "G" on the helmets of both teams.

And he especially covets them on the defensive side.

For the third time in the last four years, the Packers have selected a defensive player from Georgia in the top two rounds. The latest was safety Javon Bullard with the 58th overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft on Friday night.

He joins a list of Bulldogs that includes cornerback Eric Stokes (first round in 2021), linebacker Quay Walker (first round in 2022) and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt (first round in 2022).

After going with offense in the first round with the selection of offensive tackle Jordan Morgan, Gutekunst went with defense with his first two picks in the second round, first choosing Texas A&M inebacker Edgerrin Cooper and then a second SEC player in Bullard.

Social media loved the pick.
