Now that Aaron Rodgers is officially back with the team for at least this season, the Green Bay Packers can turn their attention to Davante Adams.

Last week, contract talks between Adams and the Packers reportedly broke down, with “no current plans to resume them.” However, after it became apparent yesterday that Rodgers would be returning, Adams reportedly changed his mind.

With the four-time Pro Bowler now willing to listen to offers, Packers GM Brian Gutekunst made it abundantly clear this morning that the franchise wants to lock Adams in for the long haul.

“Davante is really important to us,” Gutekunst said, via ESPN’s Jeff Darlington. “It’s very important to us moving forward that he’s a part of our football team and finding a way to make that work.”

Adams is in the final season of a four-year contract. He’s also coming off his best campaign as a pro, having posted a 115-1,374-18 receiving line in 2020, with career-highs in receptions and touchdown catches.

Currently, Amari Cooper’s $100 million deal is the highest total value for wide receiver contracts. DeAndre Hopkins makes the most money on a yearly basis, reeling in over $27 million, while Julio Jones has the most fully guaranteed money in his current pact.

Expect any contract extension for Adams to be in the ballpark of the deals that other elite receivers have gotten.
