Earlier this week, the Green Bay Packers received some tough news about one of the team’s starting offensive linemen.

Starting left tackle Elgton Jenkins was ruled out of the team’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. Jenkins was filling in for All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari, who started the season in Injured Reserve.

Unfortunately, that means the Packers will be down to a third-string left tackle. According to multiple reports, third-year offensive lineman Yosh Nijman will get the start at left tackle.

It will be the first start of his NFL career.

According to Pro Football Focus, Nijman played 138 snaps at left tackle over the three preseason games and allowed just two total pressures. He also received excellent grades as a run-blocker.

He’ll face a tough test on Sunday, though. In his first career start, he’ll be asked to defend against star pass rusher Nick Bosa.

Green Bay and San Francisco kick off on Sunday night at 8:20 p.m. ET.
