  • Julia Garner called out former Ozark co-star Jason Bateman at the Golden Globes.

  • Julia said not to listen to Jason while presenting the award for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role on Television with Jonathan Bailey.

  • Ozark fans loved the playful exchange with comments on X (formerly Twitter).

Former Ozark cast members Julia Garner and Jason Bateman had the most hilarious interaction at the 2024 Golden Globes, and viewers can thank Fellow Travelers star Jonathan Bailey for inciting the on-air moment!

Julia and Jonathan were on hand to present the award for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role on Television, and during their onstage conversation, the Bridgerton actor asked the Golden Globe winner for some tips on being a first-time attendee. As Julia paused for a few seconds for dramatic effect, she proceeded to joke how Jonathan should try and avoid talking to her co-star Jason... unless he's speaking to him on Jason's SmartLess podcast.

"Do not listen to Jason Bateman! Shhh!!!" she exclaimed while making eye contact with Jason as he sat in the crowd. "Unless it's on a podcast."

Given how Julia and Jason's time on the Netflix drama came to an end in early 2022, seeing the duo interact ahead of her handing The Crown star Elizabeth Debicki her Golden Globe had Ozark fans completely in stitches on social media.

"STOPPP JULIA GARNER AND JASON BATEMAN TALKING AHHHH," one person wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). "Jason Bateman and Julia Garner 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭," another screamed on the platform. "The only truly funny joke so far was Julia Garner saying, “Don’t listen to Jason Bateman, except in a podcast," a different viewer remarked, referencing folks' distaste for host Jo Koy's comments throughout the televised broadcast.

Thankfully, it seemed like Julia's on-air quip about Jason didn't affect the twosome's longtime friendship, as they eventually reunited later on at the Golden Globes. They even posed together in a sweet behind-the-scenes photo during the ceremony.

As for how the two feel about one another, Jason spoke to The Hollywood Reporter in August 2020 about how much he admires Julia's acting abilities. "Julia has an innate vulnerability to her that runs as a really interesting juxtaposition to her ferocity," he said at the time. "She’s as sweet as she is sour, as much of a beauty as she is a beast, and her ability to toggle between those polarities... the [Ozark] writers write to that."
