Owen Wilson to Play Ex-Pro Golfer in Apple TV+ Comedy

The streaming service that brought you Ted Lasso is hoping that its next sports-themed series will have you saying “Wow!

Apple TV+ has handed a 10-episode order to an Owen Wilson-fronted comedy set in the world of golf. Written by Jason Keller (Ford v Ferrari), the as-yet-untitled vehicle centers on Wilson’s Pryce Cahill, “an over-the-hill, ex-pro golfer whose career was derailed prematurely 20 years ago,” according to the official logline. “After he gets fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store and his wife walks out on him, Pryce hedges his bets entirely on a troubled, 17-year-old golf phenom.”

Wilson and Keller serve as executive producers. Additional EPs include series directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Fleishman Is in Trouble), Ben Silverman (The Office), Howard T. Owens (Charmed), Rodney Ferrell (Ripley), Guymon Casady (Game of Thrones), Lee Eisenberg and Natalie Sandy (Lessons in Chemistry), and Chris Moynihan (Marlon).

There is no timetable for release available as of press time. The untitled series adds to a growing slate of Apple TV+ comedies that include returning shows Acapulco, The Big Door Prize, Loot, Platonic, Shrinking and Trying.

Wilson most recently starred as TVA agent Mobius in the Marvel series Loki. Season 2 wrapped in November 2023.

Disney+ has not yet announced the fate of the Tom Hiddleston-led MCU offshoot — though executive producer Kevin Wright previously spoke to TVLine about a potential Loki Season 3.
