Over the hump: Wednesday's MetroWest and Milford-area Fantastic Five high school athletes

The scoreboard always tells the story. Some of Wednesday's MetroWest and Milford-area Fantastic Five high school athletes kept their opponents off of it. Others piled on the goals and runs.

A couple kept their teams unbeaten. They all got their squads over the hump of the week and the game.

Without further ado, the MetroWest and Milford-area Fantastic Five high school athletes from Wednesday, April 17:

KELSEY BLANCHETTE, Lincoln-Sudbury softball

The UMass commit didn't allow a hit, striking out 13 with six walks over eight innings in a 2-1 win against Silver Lake. Blanchette singled to open the eighth inning then reached second after a bunt and third on a wild pitch. L-S' Sarah Danielson singled in Blanchette for the go-ahead run.

SAM COLLETTE, Hudson softball

She was 2-for-4 with a home run, as the Hawks remained unbeaten with a 6-2 win over Shrewsbury in the Sheryl Jones tournament. Hudson (4-0) will face Nashoba at 11 a.m. Friday in the final. Liv Sousa also had two hits for the Hawks, while Lauren O'Malley drove in two runs.

BRYAN COSTA, Keefe Tech boys volleyball

He collected a double-double wit 12 digs and 10 kills in a 3-0 win over Wachusett. Mitus Silva also had 10 kills and 10 digs for the Broncos (7-1) in the 25-21, 25-14, 25-19 victory. C.J. Sok led Keefe Tech with 12 kills and pulled up six digs.

DEREK HATHERLEY, Hopkinton baseball

He allowed just two hits and a run, striking out 11 against just one walk in a 3-1 win over North Attleborough. Nick Pedroli had four hits and scored two runs with an RBI for the Hillers. Lucas Hodne singled twice, while Will Morgan and Mitch Simulis contributed a hit and an RBI each.

ANNA MAGENNIS, Ashland girls lacrosse

She accounted for nine points in an 18-7 win over Hopkinton. The UConn signee fired in seven goals with two assists, as Ashland (4-2, 3-2 Tri-Valley League) has won its last four games. Julia Schreibier had three goals and four assists for the Clockers, while Paige Tripp distributed three assists with a goal. Ashland's Morgan Dubanowitz contributed a hat trick, and Maggie Magennis and Payten Tripp scored twice each. Hopkinton's Lucie Mato and Rachel Bovier put away two goals each.

Baseball

BLACKSTONE VALLEY TECH 5, Auburn 4: Max Pilkington hit a go-ahead RBI single in the seventh inning for the Beavers. He was 3-for-4 with two RBIs for BVT (4-1). BVT's Luke Charron threw three innings of hitless relief to earn the win.

LINCOLN-SUDBURY 2, Waltham 1: Peter Abair threw a complete game and allowed just one unearned run with six hits and three strikeouts for the Warriors. Northeastern signee Cooper Tarantino drove in his younger brother Mason Tarantino in the bottom of the fifth inning for the go-ahead run. Mason had an RBI of his own, walked, was hit by a pitch and stole a base. Penn State-bound Jake Haarde was 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base for L-S (2-3). Warriors junior Jackson Immonen registered his first varsity hit.

WELLESLEY 7, Medway 1: Freshman Max Boehm allowed just three hits and a run over five innings to earn the win for the Raiders (4-1). Wellesley's Chase Murphy drove in two runs.

CATHOLIC MEMORIAL 6, Franklin 3: Joseph Goguen went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for the Panthers, while Matthew Miller doubled among his two hits with an RBI. Franklin starter Austin Campbell struck out nine in 4 1/3 innings, allowing just a hit and one earned run for Franklin.

ALGONQUIN 2, Milford 1: Jack Doolan delivered the game-winning hit for the Titans (3-2). Algonquin's Owen Ellsworth earned the win with three shutout innings. He struck out five and allowed just a hit. Jackson Redfern struck out five in four innings for the Titans.

BELLINGHAM 4, Dover-Sherborn 3: Tyler Ladouceur doubled with two outs, scoring two runs to tie the game in the seventh inning for the Blackhawks. He also scored the winning run. for Bellingham (4-2). CJ Fama punched out six D-S batters.

Softball

ALGONQUIN 9, North Middlesex 5: Cassie Hodge dropped in for hits and scored three runs for the Titans (2-2, 1-2 Mid-Wach B). Algonquin's Phoebe Lefevbre added two hits and two RBIs, while Hannah Dunelavey belted a three-run triple.

Boys lacrosse

BLACKSTONE VALLEY 15, Auburn 5: Jamie Nelson dished out five assists with three goals, and Jack Eastwood put in five goals with two assists for the Beavers (5-1). BVT's Jackson Mastroianni contributed a hat trick.
