Shortening the school week to four days has become more common across the United States over the last decade as school districts look to cut costs due to budget constraints. School districts that drop to a four-day week can produce a maximum savings of 5.43%, according to the Education Commission of the States, but most districts average savings between 0.4% and 2.5%.
Approximately 560 districts in 25 states have at least one school on a four-day school week, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
