'Outlander' Spinoff Casts More of Jamie Fraser's Ancestor's Friends and Family

Caitríona Balfe, Sam Heughan

The Outlander: Blood of My Blood prequel series, currently filming its 10-episode season in Scotland, continues casting newly created roles in the love story of Jamie Fraser’s (Sam Heughan) parents Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy).

It was announced today that joining the cast is Brian McCardie as the leader of Clan Grant, Isaac Grant; Jhon Lumsden as his son, Malcolm, and a potential suitor for Ellen MacKenzie; Sara Vickers in the role of Davina Porter, a housekeeper in the Lovat household and mother to Brian Fraser; and Peter Mullan in the role of Red Jacob MacKenzie, Laird of Clan MacKenzie and father to Ellen, Dougal (Sam Retford), Colum (Séamus McLean Ross), Janet and Jocasta.

In addition to exploring the lives and relationship of Jamie’s parents, Outlander: Blood of My Blood will also look at Claire’s parents, Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine), which means that the series will be divided into two different time periods. Jamie’s parents lived in the early 18th century Scottish Highlands and Claire’s parents in WWI England.
