OU softball team tours Washington, D.C., following 2023 national championship

NORMAN — The OU softball team toured Washington, D.C., on Thursday in honor of winning the 2023 national championship.

It marked the third consecutive national title for the Sooners, who swept Florida State in the Women's College World Series' championship round in June to complete the three-peat. They toured the nation's capital with Sen. Markwayne Mullin.

"It was a joy to welcome OU softball to Washington today in honor of their third consecutive NCAA Division I national championship," Mullin said via X, formerly Twitter. "These athletes live the Oklahoma Standard each day by their faith, hard work, integrity, and servant mindset."

OU dominated all of last season.

The Sooners went 61-1 on their way to the title. Their winning percentage of .984 stands as the best winning percentage for a single season in NCAA Division I softball history.

OU also ended the campaign on an NCAA-record winning streak of 53 games. It'll look to add to that number in the 2024 season, which begins Feb. 8 with a double-header against Utah Valley and Duke as a part of the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
