Oscars 2023 – as it happened: Winners, snubs, Jimmy Kimmel jokes and Hugh Grant’s ‘obnoxious’ interview

Everything Everywhere All at Once has dominated the 95th Academy Awards, held on Sunday night at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre.

Michelle Yeoh took home the Best Actress award, becoming the first Asian woman and only second woman of colour to win the trophy. The film also won Best Picture, and Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for writer/directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert.

Brendan Fraser cemented his comeback with a Best Actor win for The Whale, while Everything Everywhere stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Ke Huy Quan picked up Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor, respectively.

Other winners included Women Talking for Best Adapted Screenplay,The Whale for Best Makeup and Hairstyling and Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio for Best Animated Feature. The night was not without controversy, with criticism aimed at Jimmy Kimmel’s interview with Malala and a painful encounter between model Ashley Graham and an “obnoxious” Hugh Grant.

There were plenty of bold looks on the “champagne” carpet this year, including Rihanna who turned up in a T-shirt, trainers and bucket hat.

Nicole Kidman has gone viral after she did some seriously professional posing on the Oscars red carpet on Sunday night (12 March).

The 2023 ceremony – which took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles – saw big wins for Everything Everywhere All at Once, which took home seven awards, including Best Picture and Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh.

Kidman, who was a Best Actress nominee last year for her performance in Being the Ricardos, attended this year’s event with her husband of 17 years, Keith Urban.

In footage that has gone viral on Twitter overnight, Kidman can be seen throwing her long blonde hair down over her shoulder and looking up at the camera with smokey eyes.

Angela Bassett was “snubbed” at the Oscars following a surprise win for Jamie Lee Curtis in the Best Supporting Actress category.

During the 2023 ceremony, Everything Everywhere All at Once actor Lee Curtis took home the award for Best Supporting Actress, which drew gasps from the crowd due to the fact Bassett was considered the frontrunner.

In fact, Curtis was the third favourite behind Bassett and Banshees of Inisherin star Kerry Condon, who won the Bafta for Best Supporting Actress earlier this month.
