Orleans says 'yes' to $9 million Rock Harbor wharf improvements. Election results.

Two incumbents were reelected as Snow Library trustees and a former member will join the board again, according to preliminary results from Orleans' annual town election on Tuesday.

Incumbents James F. Balliett was the highest vote getter with 936 votes, followed by former member Cheryl G. Bryan who earned 813. Another incumbent, Mark Steven Ziomek, who was also reelected, earned 808 votes. Each term lasts three years.

Betsy Sorensen did not win a seat on the board but earned 735 votes.

The race for the Snow Library Board of Trustees was the only contested race on the ballot. Turnout was 26% or 1,526 ballots tallied out of 5,756 registered Orleans voters.

Kevin F. Galligan has been reelected for another term on the Select Board.

Incumbent Joseph Watson Hartung was unchallenged as he was reelected to the Board of Health. Newcomer Asa H. Nadeau also will join the board.

Kathleen M. Cole will join the Nauset Regional School Committee and Katherine J. Towry-McNamara was elected to the Orleans Elementary School Committee.

No one ran for a seat on the Orleans Housing Authority.

The six ballot questions, including two Proposition 2 1/2 overrides and four charter amendments, passed on Tuesday as well. Voters approved a Proposition 2 1/2 override to pay $96,000 to fund the final design of the Lakes and Ponds Area Collection System and Pumping Station Project and another to pay $9 million for the construction of Rock Harbor commercial wharf improvements.
