Oregon baseball takes on rival Oregon State in Corvallis: What to know for series

The No. 22 Oregon baseball team and No. 9 Oregon State will meet for the final time as Pac-12 opponents this weekend for a three-game series in Corvallis before a Tuesday one-off in Eugene in a pivotal conference matchup.

The Ducks (28-12, 11-7 Pac-12) will be looking for their first series win against the Beavers (31-9, 10-7 Pac-12) since 2021. The Ducks haven't beaten their rivals in Corvallis since that same year, either.

"This weekend represents the two teams on the West Coast, maybe there's one other with UC Irvine, but the two teams on the West Coast that have played the best baseball in the entire country right now," Oregon coach Mark Wasikowski said. "These two teams matching up on the West Coast is the premier matchup probably in college baseball."

Though the Ducks are entirely focused on defeating the Beavers to move up the standings and secure a big series win, the significance of meeting OSU for the last time in conference play is not lost on Wasikowski and the Ducks. The Oregon coach said that the Pac-12's dissolution was disappointing, but that they wanted to make sure they won the last game as conference rivals this weekend.

"The importance of this series is that the winner of this series probably has a good chance to win the Pac-12 championship," Wasikowski said. "The message of the week is to continue to improve and that's regardless of the opponent."

The Ducks sit in second place in the Pac-12 standings, and the Beavers slid to fourth after getting swept by Cal last weekend. A series win by either team would put them in the driver's seat to compete with Arizona and Utah near the top of the standings, while the other team fights to keep pace for the rest of the regular season.

First pitch on Friday will take place at Goss Stadium in Corvallis at 6:05 p.m. The next two games on Saturday and Sunday will also be played at Goss before the teams head down the road Tuesday to play at PK Park in Eugene at 6:05 p.m.
