Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom spoilers follow.

Aquaman 2 is out in the UK today, which means that Only Murders in the Building actor Martin Short's cameo has been revealed.

Short, who is also known for Saturday Night Live and The Santa Clause 3, provides the voice for the character Kingfish in the DC superhero sequel. As his name implies, Kingfish is a ruler, specifically of a pirate haven called the Sunken Citadel.

Aquaman and Orm go to visit him during the course of the plot in order to try and get some information on where villain Black Manta is hiding out.

The actor is no stranger to voice work, having done voice acting in Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Treasure Planet, The Prince of Egypt, Madagascar 3, The Wind Rises, and The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!.

When the Aquaman sequel was first announced, the DC Extended Universe was still going strong. But it is now being released at a time when James Gunn and Peter Safran are set to create a brand new continuity.

Back in January, Momoa suggested that he could continue playing Arthur Curry, saying: "I'll always be Aquaman, and there's a lot of evolution for that. So I'm not going anywhere, and it's very exciting."

But speaking this month, Momoa admitted he wasn't sure his version of the character will make it into the new DC Universe.

"The truth of it is, I mean, if the audience loves it, then there's a possibility... But right now, I'm like, 'It's not looking too good'," he said.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is in cinemas now. Only Murders in the Building streams on Disney+.
