Champion wrestlers crowned at Central Section Masters. How did powerhouse Buchanan fare?

Buchanan High rolled to its seventh straight Central Section Masters boys wrestling championship Saturday.

The Bears did it in their home gym, winning seven of 14 individual weight classes to total 369.5 points. Clovis finished second with 317.

Buchanan has won 13 section titles overall.

Scoring individual championships for the Bears were Rocklin Zinkin, Christopher Huerta Jr., Joseph Toscano, Leo Contino, Mason Espinoza, Sloan Swan and Keanu Trelles.

Clovis had two champions, Nikade Zinkin and Dario Lemus, and Clovis North had one, Gavin Bauder.

The big surprise came in the 287-pound weight class where No. 5 seed Isaiah Morales of Lemoore pinned top-seeded Zachary Limon of Clovis in a semifinal then decisioned No. 3 Alec Dansby of Buchanan 3-2 in the final.

At 115s, seventh-seeded Caleb Rivas of Golden West defeated No. 2 Jadyn Wren of Clovis by sudden victory on Friday and won his semifinal Saturday before injury defaulting to Huerta.

In the girls Masters on Saturday at Morro Bay, Selma finished second by one point to Golden Valley-Bakersfield, 113-112.

The state championships for boys and girls are Thursday through Saturday at Mechanics Bank Arena in Bakersfield. Buchanan has won seven state titles including the past six straight.
