One Team Breaks Down Over Trouble with Directions on 'The Amazing Race 36'

Sunny Pulver (R) performs a Detour during 'The Amazing Race 36' Episode 7

After a controversial "Megaleg" saw teams grouping up and boxing others out, it was every duo for themselves this week on The Amazing Race. And a trip to Uruguay was just what the race needed to shake things up. A day of drivers ed, metal shop, and music class had some frontrunners struggling, and underdogs prevailing. But one team was ultimately done in by their old nemesis: Navigation.

Sunny Pulver and Bizzy Smith – Best friends

Best friends Sunny and Bizzy came onto The Amazing Race to show that they could be both hardworking firefighters and loving moms. And when it came to the tasks, the two really did seem to be able to do it all, pulling themselves from last place multiple times with excellent performances. Unfortunately, their blind spot throughout the race continued to be navigation, and that was no different in Uruguay. In a leg that had nearly every team getting lost, Sunny and Bizzy struggled the most, at one point jumping from plaza to plaza to find their next clue. So even if they used their welding and percussion experience to once again blaze through the tasks, it wasn't enough to not extinguish their race in the process.

Which teams finished at the top tonight?

After a brief dip into second, Ricky Rotandi and César Aldrete were back on top! César's metalworking experience and Ricky's musical theatre studies helped them in the Roadblock and Detour, respectively, netting the boyfriends their fourth first-place finish. And right behind them were Angie and Danny Butler. The mother and son made their way out of the last departure group, benefiting from Danny's excellent navigation to finish in the top for the first time all season.

Which teams finished at the bottom tonight?

Despite not being in any danger of elimination, the other two teams in the bottom had a tense footrace to the mat. Yvonne Chavez and Melissa Main continued to languish in the back of the pack, hitting their biggest struggle of the race so far when they failed to deliver on their singing performance. Juan Villa and Shane Bilek started in the top group, but fell behind due to both some ill-timed tasks and Juan's actual illness. When the military men made a huge navigational error, they fell all the way back alongside Yvonne and Melissa, who beat them to the mat.
