One dead, two wounded in shooting at Mirage hotel on Las Vegas Strip

A man was fatally shot and two women were injured during a shooting inside a popular resort located on the Las Vegas Strip, according to authorities.

Gunfire broke out inside The Mirage on Thursday around 8:30 p.m., KVVU reported. It led to a lockdown that lifted before 11 p.m.

Metropolitan Police Department Capt. Dori Koren said the violence was triggered by a fight among four people inside a hotel room. She confirmed one person was found dead at the scene while another two victims were hospitalized for their injuries.

“We believe all are known to each other,” Koren told reporters during an overnight briefing. “And during that altercation, the one individual shot at the three other individuals.”

None of the victims have been identified, but the person killed was described as a man in his 40s or 50s.

Video shared online shows a massive police presence outside the hotel, and authorities have asked people to avoid the area.

As of Friday morning, the gunman remained at large.

Investigators have “good information, good leads that we’re working,” said Koren, who vowed to capture the suspect.

“These types of incidents, these types of extreme violence that happen in our city, we take very seriously. You’ve seen it with all the investigations we conduct, we’re fortunate to have the best homicide investigative unit in the country with the highest clearance rates for a reason so we’re confident we will solve this case,” Koren added.
