Kamar de los Reyes

Kamar de los Reyes has died. He was 56.

The Puerto Rican-born and Las Vegas-raised star passed away on Christmas Eve following a brief battle with cancer, according to a family spokesperson.

The actor was best known for his role as Antonio Vega on the ABC soap opera One Life to Live, a role he held from 1995 to 1998 and then again from 2000 to 2009, appearing in 287 episodes during his tenure and earning him five ALMA Award nominations, along with a win in 2008, as well as an Image Award nomination. He was also nominated for a Daytime Emmy Special Fan Award, America’s Favorite Couple, in 2002 alongside actress Sherri Saum, whom he later married in 2007.

But de los Reyes actually got his start in Los Angeles in the late '80s, and landed the role of Pedro Quinn in the critically acclaimed off-Broadway play Blade to the Heat in 1994.

His stage acting success spun out into a loaded entertainment career, where he worked alongside movie stars such as Oliver Stone in Nixon (1995), Jennifer Lopez in The Cell (2000) and Angelina Jolie in Salt (2010).

More recently, de los Reyes portrayed Coach Montes for the CW sports drama All American; Ryan Caradine in ABC's crime drama The Rookie; and Jobe in FOX's action-packed series Sleepy Hollow. He also appeared in a slew of other TV hits, including Blue Bloods, Castle, The Mentalist, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, CSI: Miami, ER and Valley of the Dolls.

In addition to his work on the small screen, de los Reyes also made his mark in the popular video game series Call of Duty, where he voiced the character Raul Menendez and has even been credited as a dialogue writer. His work first appeared in the 2012 version of the franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, but he stayed with the series for some time and voiced Menendez in the 2018 release Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, as well as the 2019 mobile version of the game, Call of Duty: Mobile, and its 2021 release, Call of Duty: Vanguard.

De los Reyes is survived by his wife, One Life to Live co-star Saum, their 9-year-old twins John and Michael, and many friends.
