One killed in three-vehicle crash after driver flees Milwaukee police

One person was killed in a three-vehicle crash Friday night in the 2700 block of West Locust Street after a driver refused to stop for police and ran a red light, according to Milwaukee police.

The crash happened about 9:20 p.m. after the driver of a vehicle with a stolen license plate drove away from police in the block just south of the area where the crash took place.

The driver ran a red light and hit a van headed west on Locust Street, police said in a statement.

The van rolled over and hit a third vehicle.

A a 41-year-old man who was a passenger in the van was killed in the crash, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office said Saturday morning.

Another 57-year-old passenger and the 49-year-old driver of the van were taken to a hospital. They are expected to survive.

The 34-year-old driver of the vehicle that was struck by the van, along with two children ages 6 and 8, were treated at the scene.

The 25-year-old male driver who ran the red light ran from the scene but was arrested after police chased him. A gun was also found in the vehicle.

A 25-year-old passenger in the striking vehicle was taken to a local hospital.
