Hitman developer IO Interactive is turning 25 this year, and it’s celebrating with a delightful treat for longtime fans of the series. IO and Feral Interactive announced they’re bringing one of the best Hitman games, Hitman: Blood Money to iOS and Android, with a Switch version following it up a little later.

Feral Interactive – the developer behind the recent Lara Croft collection on Switch and various other enhanced ports on mobile – is heading up development on the port, which is titled Hitman: Blood Money Reprisal. Feral says that unlike previous HD ports of the game, Reprisal will have a bunch of new features, like Instinct Mode, a persistent minimap, and more.

Here’s how Feral describes the port:

This is a sparkling version of the stealth classic Hitman: Blood Money for new platforms, complete with a suite of improvements that deliver powerful new features such as Instinct Mode, an ever-present minimap, and a wide array of gameplay improvements inspired by later games in the series.

That sounds pretty good, and the trailer for it, while a bit light on details, does look nice, combining the classic game with modern visuals and mechanics. It’s not quite on the level of the rebooted Hitman games, but it does seem to have a few neat features inspired by those games.

Hitman: Blood Money first released on PC, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360 all the way back in 2006, where it was met with glowing reviews. Despite a controversial marketing campaign (that looks very tame compared to marketing today), the game became a hit, and later got enhanced ports on PS3, PS4, and Xbox One.

Trying to play the game today, though, is a bit rough — we’ve been spoiled by modern Hitman games, and Blood Money feels a bit archaic in comparison. This new port, then, is a fantastic idea that should hopefully breathe new life into a classic game. With any luck, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin will get a similar treatment in the future, but we’ll have to make do with Blood Money in the meantime.

Hitman: Blood Money Reprisal will launch on iOS and Android (with full controller and mouse and keyboard support) this Autumn, while the Switch version will be released in the Winter.
