The Best Independence Day Deals and Sales

Retailers celebrate Independence Day the same way they celebrate President's Day, Labor Day and every other national holiday: by offering big deals, discounts and sales. Here are a few of the best deals you can take advantage of this Fourth of July week.

The three big Gap (GPS) brands -- Old Navy, Gap and Banana Republic -- are offering "star-spangled savings." That means 30 percent off when you shop online at any of the three websites and use the code STARS30. The code is only good through Wednesday night at midnight ET. Different restrictions apply at each site, so check the site before you shop.

Through the end of the holiday weekend, Staples is offering a coupon for 20 percent off any one item in stores. But note the fine print, which excludes basically all the expensive stuff, like computers, tablets, printers, ink, and so on. See the site for full details. The coupon is valid through the close of business on Sunday, July 7.

If you want a sale where you can actually get a discount on electronics, check out Newegg's Fourth of July sale, which lasts through midnight PT on the night of the Fourth. You can grab everything from $5 HDMI cables to $12 headphones, and there are also discounts on laptops, monitors and TVs. Some of the deals can be discounted further with the right coupon code.

Dealnews reports that daily-deal site LivingSocial is offering an extra discount: When you use the code FREEDOM, you'll get an extra $10 off orders of $25 or more. The code is good through July 5th; some restrictions might apply.
