In terms of weather, this has been a harsh year so far. While some have reveled in snow days and magical winter wonderland scenes outside their frosted windows, you can only spend so many days in front of a cozy fireplace or snuggled under blankets before fantasies of spring and summer sound way more appealing than the status quo.

Rest assured, though, that the winter months are drawing to a close. Before you know it, buds will begin popping up through the wet ground and the sun will warm your back. Meanwhile, it's time to gear up for a fantastic month of shopping bargains.

Travel

One of March's best buys is travel, so if you're desperate to pry yourself from winter's grip, consider a weekend getaway. "Right now, you can get the most bang for your buck when you're cashing in your miles," noted Jeanette Pavini, a Coupons.com savings expert. She added, "Good deals are happening with most major air carriers, both domestic and international." Pavini says to purchase airline tickets at around 4:30 p.m. Eastern time when the majority of airlines have their sales.

Cleaning Supplies

If you're subscribed to any manufacturer emails or check out sales fliers often, you may have noticed an uptick in household cleaning supply deals recently. That's because brands are seriously vying for your spring cleaning dollars. Not only that, but they're debuting new products and want to gain your patronage by giving you a discount on something you've never tried before. For the time being, forget about brand loyalty and explore new products and brands. You'll save money in the long run and your home will smell and look amazing.

Frozen Food

Here's a little fact you may not have known: March is National Frozen Food Month! (Yes, that's a thing.) In honor of this month-long celebration, the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association rounds up manufacturers to offer special frozen food coupons, Pavini told us. "It's a great time to stock up on frozen food. Just make sure you have room to store it all!" Check out your local Sunday paper or look online for coupons.

Home Fragrances

Keep a lookout for deals on home fragrances, including candles, diffusers, sprays and plugins. They're on sale for the same reason cleaning supplies are: spring cleaning and new releases. In addition to new, seasonal fragrances (think fresh and springy scents), you may find heavily discounted home fragrances more suited to fall and winter (think warm scents like cinnamon, baked goods and vanilla).

Gym Memberships and Indoor Equipment

We all know that January is a popular month to start hitting the gym. By March, though, a lot of the New Year's resolution momentum has slowed down. Not only that, but people start transitioning from indoor workouts to the outdoor variety. "As the weather starts to improve and daylight savings goes into effect, more people will turn to the outdoors to get their fitness fix," Pavini said. "Look for sales on gym memberships and indoor exercise equipment like treadmills and ellipticals."
