OMG, How Did We Miss This Hidden Detail in Princess Charlotte's New Birthday Photo?

Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, just released a portrait for Princess Charlotte’s birthday, and I nearly missed a hidden detail regarding the royal’s outfit.

Earlier today, the Prince and Princess of Wales celebrated Princess Charlotte’s ninth birthday by sharing a brand-new photo on social media (taken by Princess Catherine). The photo featured a grown-up looking Princess Charlotte leaning on a shrub and wearing an adorable red cardigan, blue top and denim skirt.

But after analyzing the photo, I realized that this isn’t the first time the young royal has worn this exact outfit combo. In fact, the cardigan over a blue dress/skirt has been Princess Charlotte’s go-to ensemble for years. Don’t believe me? Let’s take a walk down memory lane.

Princess Charlotte debuted the cardigan-dress outfit when she was one year old.

She continued the trend during the royal tour of Canada.

She couldn't resist her go-to outfit while meeting her baby brother, Prince Louis.

Fast-forward a few years, and Princess Charlotte opted for another cardigan-over-blue look.

And again during Easter service at St. George's Chapel.

As I previously mentioned, the photo was taken by Kate Middleton, and it was released earlier this morning by Kensington Palace. The message read, “Happy 9th Birthday, Princess Charlotte! Thank you for all of the kind messages today.” (FYI the caption is quite similar to Louis's bday post which read, "Thank you for all the kind wishes today.")

Never change, Princess Charlotte.
